Following his graduation from Texas A&M University in 1974 with a degree in economics, Al joined Turnkey, Inc., a family-owned, third-generation design-build firm in Houston, Texas. Demonstrating exceptional leadership, he stepped into the role of President in 1983 and continues to guide the company’s strategic vision today. Under his direction, Turnkey has successfully operated across the complete development lifecycle—serving as a developer, project designer, consultant, and general contractor for a highly diverse portfolio of residential and commercial projects, including specialized exhibits at the Houston Zoological Gardens.
In 1991, Al’s entry into the pet care sector began when his wife, Suzanne, acquired a pet lodging business. After five years of hands-on operation, Al designed and built a ground- up facility for the business, integrating cutting-edge systems and advanced technologies. This foundational experience launched his career as a national authority in pet care infrastructure. Today, Al provides elite guidance to prospective and existing facility owners, specializing in feasibility, demographic mapping, site layout, project engineering, and comprehensive business planning.
Over the past three decades, Al has designed more than 120 pet care facilities across the United States—ranging from 3,500 to 35,000 square feet—and has spearheaded the construction of 16 premier pet resorts and veterinary hospitals in the Greater Houston market.
A sought-after consultant and thought leader, Al frequently speaks at national industry events, including conferences for the Pet Boarding and Daycare Expo’s , the International Pet Boarding Services Association (IBPSA), the Pet Care Services Association (PCSA), and American Boarding Kennels Association (ABKA). Notably, he served as the international Keynote Speaker at the Ausboard Conference in Cairns, Australia. Al has authored dozens of featured articles for leading industry publications and co-chaired the ABKA’s Facility Accreditation Committee, where he helped rewrite national safety and operational standards. His interdisciplinary mastery of construction, finance, and business planning makes him one of the country’s most trusted advisors for entrepreneurs launching new ventures.

Vice President
Bubba Locker brings a lifelong passion for building and decades of hands-on expertise to his role as Vice President of Turnkey, Inc. His career began years before his formal appointment, spending summers on construction sites mastering the fundamental trades from the ground up. In 1998, after attending Blinn College and graduating from America’s Inspectors Institute, he officially joined the firm full-time. Over the past 28 years, Bubba has climbed the ranks within the family-owned company, serving as Project Supervisor and Project Manager before stepping into executive leadership. Today, Bubba directs all construction operations, subcontractor contracting, and material procurement for Turnkey’s diverse commercial and residential portfolio. Navigating today’s demanding economic landscape, he is continuously innovating strategies to maximize value, respect strict budget parameters, and ensure on-time delivery without compromising on premium finishes—whether managing a ground-up build or a complex remodel.
